It’s going to have a custom 42” wide steel vault door from Fort Knox, and the floors, walls, and even the ceiling are going to be solid concrete.
Here’s a little diagram I drew- the man cave is under the garage area.
We’re going to span this area with metal decking and then pour a 6” slab. The entire room will be surrounded by concrete.
To get HVAC in this room I’m going to run it through these 6” fire dampers.
They have a fusible link that breaks at 165 degrees and then a metal door that springs shut, so fire can’t spread into the room
The fire dampers need to go through the wall in this section right here.
Rather than having to drill or chisel through the concrete later- I’m going to make some 7” foam circles to put in the wall before we pour.
Once the concrete is hard, we can easily knock these out and slide our fire dampers through the wall. I’ll use fire putty to seal around them.
The section of wall we’re sleeving through is 4” so I’m going to tape two of these together which will give me a 4” block.
Let me know in the comments how would you finish out this room if it was your man cave? @hausplans
