Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich plans to approve thousands of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, saying it “buries the idea of a Palestinian state”.Israeli media say the move by Smotrich could lead to more than 3,000 illegal units being built as part of the controversial E1 project.
The minister is quoted as saying strong international opposition has forced the project to be frozen until now.
