Thanos is the smartest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and his plan started way before Infinity War! In 2012, he gave Loki the Mind Stone inside the scepter, not just to conquer Earth but to study its defenses. With the Infinity Stones in play, he learned about Tony Stark (Iron Man), who destroyed the Chitauri army. But Thanos' strategy didn’t stop there—he used the Mind Stone’s influence to corrupt Loki, triggering chaos within Asgard. This conflict weakened Odin’s kingdom, setting the stage for Ragnarok and leaving Asgard defenseless.

With Asgard gone, nothing stopped Thanos from reaching Nidavellir, where he forged the Infinity Gauntlet, the key to wielding all Infinity Stones. Ironically, his attack on Earth in 2012 led to the formation of the Avengers, the very team that would fight him. But as Thanos would say, "This is just good business."
