The tablao flamenco “Villa-Rosa” in Madrid was founded by 1911, at the place of an old chocolate mill. Until 1918 it was an Andalusian tapas bar. Then it became a restaurant. In 1919 the place was handed to two waiters of a nearby bar Viña. They turned it completely and installed a beautiful wooden counter and an artistic coffered ceiling supported by columns on that ride lobed arches that recall to the Alhambra of Granada and a polychrome tile walls, all Arabic Andalusian style (1915-20). It was closed in 1960 for many years. In the ‘80s it was reopened as a discotheque. Once again it was closed and remained that way (except for special events) until 2011 when it re-opened as a flamenco tablao.
