Described by many as one of the First Ladies of the London club scene, Marcia Carr is a long-standing face in the capital as a DJ, radio broadcaster, journalist, former street/jazz dancer and founder of her own music PR / Artist agency Talking Music Productions. As a selector, Marcia is of course no stranger to the decks, having spent much of the past two decades running her own events and even longer guesting at parties both in and around London Town and abroad. She’s featured alongside a veritable who’s who of the international DJ elite, all the while championing a truly diverse range of black music. Moving into her fourth decade of all things music, she truly has sown and grafted hard for the love of it all – more often than not you can find her blessing many clubbers with stylish sets of jazzy dance floor treats from her extensive record collection. Marcia is the Creative Director and owner of Girlz B Like, an all vinyl, women only brand whose motto of "guys dance girlz DJ" celebrates its 8th anniversary in October 2023. Aside from this, her skills of production and presenting are witnessed every 4th Sunday of the month on her livestream radio show ¡Take the Con! hosted on theboatpod.com. Holding club residencies at the Jazz Cafe (Soul City) and The Cause has seen Marcia's journey grow immensely. With recent festivals gigs at We Out Here, Brixton Disco Festival and the upcoming Boogietown, as well as recent guest appearances at the Berghain Panorama Bar (Berlin), FLOW (Helsinki) to Mona (Paris) which are just some of the sure signs of Marcia's continuous rise in popularity and appeal to audiences across various generations.
