Did you know Butch Cassidy made it to Patagonia? In today's travel vlog from Argentina we head to Butch Cassidy's Ranch where along with the Sundance Kid they lived in Cholila, Chubut. Our day started off with misadventure as we originally thought the National Argentine Asado Barbecue was starting; however, upon arriving we quickly realized it was going to be held the day after. Still wanting to check out Cholila we decided to visit the abandoned Butch Cassidy Ranch just slightly out of town.

Wandering around the property was a fascinating experience. Firstly, you can get a sense of just how desolate it must have been when they were living there. Even today this part of Patagonia is scarcely populated. Signs designated particular rooms of the ranch. The whole experience was so interesting we decided to visit the museum in town for a bite to eat and to learn more about Butch Cassidy. The group finds themselves alone among the abandoned log cabins and horses, exploring the surprisingly intact buildings that include a living room, kitchen, and bedroom—imagine life on the run in the Patagonian wilderness! They also note wanted posters and relics, learning more about how these iconic figures ended up in Patagonia after fleeing the United States in 1901.

On the way back to town, the team drops by the local museum-bar just off the highway, dedicated to Butch Cassidy’s legacy.
