On 24 and 25 June 1957, ITN's Reggie Bosanquet interviewed the Commonwelath heads of government attending that year's Commonwealth conference in London. Bosanquet spoke to Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, New Zealand Foreign Minister Tom Macdonald, Pakistani Prime Minister Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. A decade after the 1947 partition of India, both Suhrawardy and Nehru were asked whether they intended to raise the ongoing Indo-Pakistani conflict in Kashmir with their fellow Commonwealth leaders; both replied that the dispute was not a subject in which Commonwealth representatives should be involved.
