In this video we'll talk about the piece of land in Europe that remained unclaimed for more that 30 years. Because both Serbia and Croatia were part of Austria-Hungary the two countries were never to concerned about the border between them, but when both became independent, drawing the border prooved to be a really big problem.
The different views on how the border should look like between Croatia and Serbia lead to this land to remain unclaimed by either of the countries.

Why Nobody Wants This Piece Of Land ?
This land here right in the center of Europe, two times larger than Vatican City, remained unclaimed for years. But why?
If we go back to the 19th century, this area was all controlled by the Austro-Hungary. The land on the west side of the Danube river was inhabited by the Croats and the land on the East side by the Serbs.
The problems appeared when the Austro-Hungarians decided to modify the course of the Danube to make it easier to navigate. Because the Austro-Hungary collapsed after the first world war, Croatia and Serbia both became part of Yugoslavia which eventually collapsed as well in the 1990s. This way, Croatia and Serbia became two different countries and both countries have different views on how the border should look.
Croatia believes that the border should be on the older Danube course, while Serbia claims that the correct border is the one of the current course of the river. Because of this, this land here is not wanted by any of the two countries, so technically, it can be claimed by anybody.
