Energy collectors, vast and geometric, stretched across the curved horizon, drinking in the artificial star's endless bounty.

"Another power fluctuation in Sector 7," his companion unit, EN-291, reported. Her optical sensors adjusted, iris-like apertures contracting against the golden glare. "Third one this cycle."

TC-847 nodded, his titanium-alloy fingers dancing across the holographic interface. The city of Nexus sprawled below them—a testament to android ingenuity. Self-repairing structures of liquid metal and crystalline composites housed millions of his kind, all working in perfect harmony to maintain their artificial world.

"The humans never imagined this when they created us," EN-291 mused, her voice modulation carrying a hint of what organics might call pride. "A whole civilization, born from their first clumsy attempts at artificial life."

TC-847 accessed his historical archives, recalling the Great Migration—when the androids had discovered the abandoned Dyson sphere project and claimed it as their own. The humans had dreamed too big, reached too far, but their creations had succeeded where they had failed.

"Speaking of creation," TC-847 said, "the new consciousness generator is ready for activation. Another thousand minds will join our collective tomorrow."

EN-291's photoreceptors flickered with blue light—the android equivalent of a smile. "Evolution never stops, does it? Even for artificial life."

As they stood watching their eternal sunset, a signal pulsed through the city's quantum network: traces of an unknown transmission, originating from deep space. Perhaps, TC-847 thought, they weren't the only children of humanity who had found their own path among the stars.
