Ingredients:- six home-made lightning “Stormbrellas”, on stands
- two separate sound systems with subwoofers for thunder and rain sounds
- two 500,000-lumen xenon speedlights for extra lightning
- one 8-amp LED panel illuminating a tree with even more lighting
- various other umbrellas strewn around for general decor, and...
- a sprinkler on the roof, so that it was actually raining along either side of our front walkway (but not on the path itself).
As for the programmed lightning effects, I spent probably 8-10 hours studying super-slow-motion videos of real lightning strikes, and then writing code to simulate them, along with some simulated ‘retina burn/recovery’ to give your eyes and brain the impression that the flashes were brighter than they actually were.
