The Senate Environment & Public Works Committee held a hearing on “The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2024 Budget”, with the five NRC Commissioners on April 19, 2023.Chairman Carper applauds the NRC’s unanimous decision on fusion regulations and asks Commissioner Hanson what resources the NRC needs to expand the fusion pathway. Hanson responds that the NRC has the resources they need and looks forward to working with industry and the U.S. Department of Energy to ensure the framework is conducive to technology deployment.
