Following the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, some of his political rivals are calling for a swift change in Ottawa.
Trudeau announced Monday he plans to step down as Canada’s prime minister and leader of the Liberal party as soon as a successor is announced, and he’s asked the Governor General to prorogue the Parliament until March 24.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said Trudeau’s resignation was a ploy to “trick voters” months before the next election. While NDP leader Jagmeet Singh said Trudeau’s Liberals had let Canadians down.
Global's Kyle Benning reports on the calls for a quick election from across the House.
