On 9 July 2009, Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher was interviewed at Wembley Stadium as the band prepared for that evening's show. Gallagher dismissed rumours that the band were soon to split up, telling ITN's reporter "we'll never ever split up", and insisting that "I can never leave Oasis, I am Oasis". Oasis would split up just six weeks later following Noel's abrupt departure from the band on 28 August 2009. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer," the older Gallagher brother wrote in a statement released soon after. Liam Gallagher continued to perform with the band under the name Beady Eye until its disbandment in 2014.
Some 15 years after the Oasis split, Noel and Liam Gallagher have announced a reunion tour in 2025, having apparently resolved their years-long brotherly feud.
