Hello from our little corner of the world here in the southwest of France! This week, we’re back at it with the Thwaites dumper restoration moving it closer to running again and tackling every little detail that’ll make this old workhorse a reliable partner for all the projects we have planned.
Philippe’s been busy: welding on the new sides he made last time, sorting out the air filter (so it finally pulls in cool air and not hot engine air!), fitting an hour meter and an engine shut-off lever on the dashboard, and giving the whole dumper a proper clean and fresh coat of paint. He’s also been working on the fuel and hydraulic tanks, finding and fixing leaks, and making sure they’re ready for action. And with everything reassembled, he checks the injectors with Claude, regulates the fuel pumps, and gets everything topped up with oil and fluids: one step closer to getting the engine fired up again.
It’s a video full of small victories, from carefully refitting parts to seeing those final details come together—bringing us that much closer to having the dumper back in action for the driveway and pond works ahead.
And beyond the dumper, there’s a little neighborly teamwork going on too, installing our Mammotion LUBA Mini robotic mower with our neighbors to make life a bit easier for everyone.
