We just attempted to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal right here on the jobsite.
We started out by roasting a 22-pound turkey. I had a local fabrication shop make me a custom spit that would bolt onto the auger attachment for my skid steer.
Once we had the turkey full of butter, we fired up the CAT and started cooking.
This custom spit worked awesome.
We made a glaze for this turkey using melted butter, lemon juice, orange juice, some Poppa Earl’s Hot and Spicy powder, salt and pepper, and finally some of my homemade hot pepper powder- most people can’t handle it.
I put on several coats of this glaze- the longer it cooked the better this thing smelled. It was making everybody hungry.
When you’re cooking a bird this big you definitely want to make sure it’s thawed out- it takes about one day in the fridge for every 4-5 pounds.
Next, I used my propane torch to boil a big pot of potatoes- we wanted mashed potatoes, so we brought out the roller.
It did a really good job- maybe too good of a job.
Once I got these shoveled up, we added butter, milk, and chives and mixed it together with a drill.
Now it was time to carve the turkey, it turned out amazing, nice and moist.
We’ve got one employee that can’t eat turkey, so I heated up a rotisserie chicken for him.
Watching the “New Guy” eat chicken is like watching a tornado tear through a campground- you’re best just to stay out of the way until it’s done.
Let us know in the comments what should we cook next on the jobsite? @hausplans
