Many elderly people (aged 50+) live alone and often remain busy with work. When it suddenly starts raining, they may not notice it in time—causing clothes or food items drying in the sun to get wet. I created this rain alarm system to help prevent such problems by giving an early alert when rain begins.
In this video, I demonstrate a simple and effective rain detection alarm circuit that I built using a BC547 NPN transistor. When rainwater touches the sensor pad, the circuit activates a musical IC (UM66 or BT66), which then sends an audio signal to a connected audio amplifier box—producing a loud and clear rain alert!

🔧 Key Components Used:
BC547 transistor
Rain sensor pad (custom-shaped)
Musical IC (UM66 or BT66)
Audio amplifier/speaker box
9V battery for power supply
🎯 How It Works:
When rain touches the sensor pad, the water conducts a small current that switches on the BC547 transistor. This powers the UM66 or BT66 musical IC, which plays a melody. The sound is then amplified by the external audio box—alerting you loudly and instantly when it starts to rain!
🛠️ This is a great beginner-friendly project and useful for early rain warning in homes, balconies, or gardens.
