The Salem Witch Trials in Salem Village, Massachusetts, were a series of investigations and prosecutions between 1692 and 1693 that resulted in death for 19 alleged witches. Numerous other people ended up in prison. Unlike the women in Europe who were accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake, the victims of the Salem witch trials died at the gallows.
