10 Most Amazing Skyscrapers in the World


For centuries, human beings have always been fascinated with the idea of reaching the skies. In fact, in most traditional religions, deities were believed to have their home in the heavens; from the likes of Odin in Norse Mythology, to the Greek Gods atop Mount Olympus, the heavens were left solely for the gods watching their creation from up above.
In modern times, however, we humans have discovered ingenious ways of sampling the amazing heavens. Whether it’s by flying metal contraptions thousands of feet above the air known as planes, or by building dazzling sky-scrapers that dare to break into outer space. One thing is for sure, the sky is no longer the limit!
So, in this video, we will take a look at 10 of the world’s most amazing skyscrapers that have astounded people ever since they were constructed!
10. Burja Khalifa, Dubai UAE

Dubai is one of the wealthiest cities in the world, and as such, she loves to boast her wealth in magnificent ways. One way her people do so is by constructing architecture that would have been thought only possible in the realm of imagination. Take for example the Burja Khalifa, which to date, is the tallest man-made structure in the world. Standing at an astonishing 828 meters tall, the building plays host to many businesses, including eccentric hotels and shipping centers; not to mention holding the world’s highest mosque located on the 158th floor!
Thanks to the elegant projecting edges and tripodal designs, the tower is pretty distinctive. The first designs of the structure were made by SOM, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
With the employment of the modern tubular system, it used less than half the amount of steel used in the construction of the Empire State Building. Inspired by Islamic architecture, it’s spiral designs are truly breathtaking, and it’s no wonder the Burja Khalifa has been likened to the elegant Great Mosque of Samarra.
9. CN Tower- Toronto, Canada

At the time of its completion in 1976, the CN tower in Canada was the tallest structure in the world. In fact, it reigned supreme for quite a number of years before eventually being overtaken by the likes of the Burja Khalifa. While it might have lost its supreme title, it still remains the towering figure in the Western Hemisphere. The abbreviation CN refers to Canadian National; the railway company that constructed the tower more than 40 years ago.
Considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers, it hosts quite an array of eloquent shopping malls, companies, agencies and clientele alike. Indeed, one of the most frequented spots of the building is the 360 restaurant located a whopping 351 metres above the ground; which is designed to complete a breath-taking 360 degree rotation after every 72 minutes. With time, however, some of the CN Tower’s initial records have been broken.

8. Oriental Pearl Tower- Shanghai, China

Shanghai is a bustling city, and a central hub to one of the world’s largest economies. Yes, this city has its fair-share of jaw-dropping wonders, including the impressive oriental pearl tower. In fact, standing a whopping 468 metres, this was once Shanghai’s tallest structure. With its three impressive observation decks, tourists can be able to sample amazing views of the bustling Shanghai street life, as well as other eccentric structures around. Moving to the second sight deck, you’ll feel intertwined with nature as you watch the impressive Huangpo river meandering ceremoniously at 259 meters above sea level. In fact, this surreal river is one of the primary tourist attractions at the Oriental Pearl Tower. Need we say more?
