ICMM members reaffirm their commitment to respect the rights of Indigenous Peoples, recognising their importance as partners in the development of mining projects on their lands and territories.

Our strengthened Position Statement includes commitments to:

🤝Respect the rights, knowledge and cultures of Indigenous Peoples.
📝Obtain agreement from Indigenous Peoples on anticipated impacts to their rights from mining activities, identified through human rights due diligence and meaningful engagement.
⚖️Enable aligned benefit sharing
🔧 Provide or cooperate in remediation
🤝Address differences of opinion that arise and work to resolve disagreements.

It also provides greater clarity on the role of companies and States on consent, and how this principle is applied and understood.
