in the Wonder Ground book, the entry for this record seems to clock Hiroyuki Kawashima as a Beatles fan. i'm not sure how much i'm inclined to agree with this, but i highly agree with the remark said thereafter that he expertly crafted this record with only what was necessary for the sound, where there is typically more amateur overdubbing and other problems in homemade music of this time. Kawashima may have been a genius. by handcrafting this record over the course of several months, with how impressively sharp his lyricism and songwriting is, it feels like something that was made with as much thought put into it as possible. this record doesn't feel amateur; it's a pop folk masterpiece by a guy who most definitely should've been signed to a label at some point in his life. the lyrics to most songs are pretty personal and speak of loneliness, winter, and longing for love among other things, usually in deeply poetic and abstract terms. Kawashima's skill is impossible to doubt, and Boku Jishin is one of the best LPs from Japan ever... in my opinion!
this is where i'd tell you to support the artists but you literally can't. just enjoy the music, that's as much as we can do :')
