This is the Hans Guitar Rocket Lightweight, and it’s the lightest electric guitar I’ve ever laid my hands on – this thing weighs a jaw dropping 2.2 kg, or 4.85 lbs.!

But it’s not all about the weight: the Rocket Lightweight is a stunning example of a modern guitar. Built by hand in Tübingen, Germany, in January 2021 by Thorsten Hans – Mr Hans Guitars – the Rocket Lightweight is a thoroughbred rock and roll machine ready for any stage.

The secret behind the guitar’s back-saving mass is the ultra-light body and neck, which are made of paulownia, a wood that’s similar to swamp ash. And elsewhere, no expenses have been spared to make the Rocket Lightweight the best it can be, so there’s a Kloppmann SB62 P90 pickup, a Göldo bridge, Gotoh stealth tuners, a bone nut, a treble bleed mod, and more.

As usual, I put the guitar through the mill by playing riffs from my favorite genres with different amounts of gain, so sit back and enjoy the sounds!

My setup was as follows: I ran the Rocket Lightweight into a Paul Cochrane Timmy Pedal and a Revv G3 distortion pedal into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. That went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.

Here’s some links to those bits of gear:

H&K Black Spirit 200 head:
Revv G3:
Timmy: Good luck with that! Paul Cochrane doesn’t have a website, so your best bet when looking for a Timmy is to search used sites or stores (I bought mine used on eBay Marketplace), or check out the odd USA dealer who sometimes gets them in! Humbucker Music often has them listed (no affiliation!):
Focusrite 4i4 (this is the newer equivalent of my 2i4, which they don’t make any more!):

Enjoy!
