In today’s video, we will be exploring an abandoned resort with a giant indoor water park that once stood proud as the premier destination for family fun, leisure, and entertainment. This expansive waterpark featured a variety of attractions from massive water slides to wave pools and from tubing on a lazy river to lounging in bubbling whirlpools. With its “old western” theme, the expansive resort presented a quintessential escape, however, things would soon change and the once booming and crowded waterpark would soon become abandoned and empty, hoping for another chance at life, but an unfortunate arson fire that engulfed the entire hotel area would prove to be too costly for repair and the entire place became condemned.
The new hotel resort was eleven-stories tall and included over 3,000 feet of twisting and turning watersides, numerous splash and play areas, and even a toddler pool to help attract visitors of all ages. The water parks signature feature was a 1,000-gallon dumping bucket set atop of a four-story play structure with ropes, poles, nets, stairs, and of course, various water slides. The interior design of the waterpark resort featured authentic western-themed furnishings, rare artwork, wall-sized murals, and life-sized statues of horses, Cowboys, and not surprisingly Indians.
In 2016, the fate of the monster water park resort was forever sealed when it was suddenly ordered to shut down and cease all operations due to numerous code violations and major safety concerns.
And then in 2021, after being closed for over five years and sitting heavily guarded by private security, city officials declared the deteriorating structure a public safety hazard and nuisance. Over the next year, the owners decided to push even harder for the sale of the former resort by spending tons of money on sale ads, however, these increased costs proved to be quite expensive for the owners, and in a fateful decision, security was pulled to help save money.
With the resort now being unprotected, the situation went from bad to worse when the owner was arrested in 2023 after failing to provide plans to repair the property and bring it into compliance with updated safety codes. At that time, the building became even more vulnerable to vagrants, scrappers, trespassers, taggers, and of course urban explorers. By 2024, the property had then fallen into serious disrepair, with sign of vandalism throughout, including broken windows, overgrown landscape, ransacked rooms, and the all too familiar graffiti tags.
Adding insult to injury, in October of 2024, the indoor waterpark resort fell victim to arson and after the smoke cleared, officials ruled the building as a total loss. This irreversible and devastating fire seemed to have surely sealed the fate of the once popular vacation destination. It is alleged that the large complex will be demolished to make way for new modern affordable housing, but as of 2025, the charred remains of the heavily damaged waterpark still stand, but certainly its only a matter of time before the resort will be gone forever. And that will take us to the end of today’s video on the massive indoor waterpark resort that was ultimately condemned after an arson. We always appreciate your support, thank you friends!
