Motormouth tests the 2020 Mazda3. This latest model wss introduced last year and sales have ben soft, considering this new Mazda3 is edgier and features a classic leading interior. Mazda has always had success with the Mazda3 but tings have changed. The all-new Mazda3 sedan and hatch are here and have some major changes. The biggest news is that both the sedan and the hatchback, or Mazda3 Sport, now are available with AWD. This system can drive on FWD and send power to the rear wheels depending on grip. The torque varies depending on the conditions. The only engine offered with the AWD system is the 185hp 2.5l Skyactiv 4-cylinder and an automatic transmission. The base 2.0L engine is still offered but only on the FWD base model cars. The other big change is the elimination of the independent rear suspension in favour of a solid rear design. At first, this might seem like a big step backwards bit driving this new car feels more upscale and premium. The suspension and much quieter cabin make the driver feel like they are in a class-above vehicle. The other area that Mazda excels is interior design, finish and materials. This new Mazda3 does not disappoint, with a new 8,8-inch centre screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The materials are classy and the cabin is very well put together. The rear outward visibility with the hatch isn't that good but the sedan is much better.
