Features of a Brooder ⬇️

1. Brooder structure - this is where the chicks will live for about the first 7 weeks so make sure it’s spacious!

2. Heat source - the amount of heat chicks need decreases each week. Make sure there’s enough room for the chicks to escape heat if they need/want to.

3. Feeder - use any container or one specifically meant for chicks

4. Waterer - using a water container meant for chicks will prevent drowning

5. Bedding - there are many options for bedding! My blog lists several of the options

6. Water - you can add chick electrolytes to the water. This is great if you purchase mail order chicks!

7. Feed - pick a high quality feed formulated for chicks. We recommend @scratchandpeckfeeds Starter Mash!

8. Grit - this is necessary for the proper digestion of feed and helps the gizzard develop at a young age. @scratchandpeckfeeds offers chick grit as well!
