Myanmar’s death toll from last week’s devastating earthquake has climbed to 3,145, the ruling junta said on Friday (April 4).More than 4,500 people were injured and more than 200 were still missing, it added, as rescuers comb through rubble in badly-hit Mandalay, the country's second largest city, looking for more survivors.
Last Friday’s (March 28) earthquake of magnitude 7.7 was one of the strongest to hit the Southeast Asian nation in a century.
Myanmar's neighbours, such as China, India and other Southeast Asian nations are among countries that have dispatched relief supplies and rescuers to aid the recovery effort in quake-hit areas home to about 28 million people.
