“Detroit Youth Soccer League represents an investment in new sports activity for children in our city,” said Keith Flournoy, Deputy Director, Detroit Parks & Recreation. “We want Detroit kids to be exposed to new skills and opportunities.”
As a part of this new initiative, the City has made a $2.16M investment into existing parks by adding multi-sport fields at Adams/Butzel, Chandler Park, Romanowski Park, Rouge Park, and Stoepel 2 Park. Participants will practice at Detroit recreation centers during the week, while games are played on Saturday’s at either Adams/Butzel, Chandler Park, or Romanowski Park.
Children who join Detroit Youth Soccer League will have an opportunity to learn how to play the great sport of soccer, stay active, enjoy the outdoors, learn teamwork, and most of all have fun. In addition to soccer the multi-sport fields can be utilized to play most outdoor sports. Once completed, the public will be able to reserve the fields for games, tournaments, and more.
