For the first episode, I went with one of the most iconic psychedelic sounds which we've heard on many records. It's a simple saw wave playing on a lower octave (as low as a traditional bassline) while being fed to a bandpass filter (24 or 12dB/oct) with a high amount of resonance. The filter should be modulated by a random LFO set to a rate of 1/16, and this covers the basic patch.
But I like pushing things a bit further, so to start, I've added a distortion module. Because we're using Serum, I went with its tape saturation (I really like how that algorithm sounds), and I fed everything to a phaser which I've slightly modulated its frequency with the same random modulator as the filter and I've also kept its internal LFO to modulate it's frequency (set it to taste) with a slow rate like 8 bars.
To finish the sound, I've added an EQ to roll off the lower frequencies and a simple 1/8 dotted ping pong delay.
