Just as the 21st century got going, deep house seemed to turn a page in the UK, up north at least, leading, following, inspiring and influencing each other were a multitude of DJ's, producers & labels including Paper, Rainy City, Mantis, Mettle Music & Toko.

This is a new upload of a classic CD mix album neatly, nicely, uniquely providing a snapshot of a certain sound at a certain time that was maybe so much ahead of its time, it's literally stood the test...

Bar De Lune’s Destinations series sees us heading to Manchester the city’s own born and bred; deep house maestro's Mettle Music charged with showcasing some of Manchester's finest musical virtues.

Manchester has always been a city with soulful dance music deep in its heart, from the roots of Northern Soul at the Twisted Wheel, Colin Curtis’ Jazz Funk odyssey at The Berlin Club, Mike Pickering introducing house at the Hacienda right through to today’s Friends & Family and Electric Chair.

Despite (or maybe because of) the weather, the rainy city has always shone brightly where musical innovation, originality and raw talent is measured and yet the pedigree of Manchester’s most talented has been somewhat overlooked which this fine compilation helps to address.

Destination Manchester explores what this thriving and diverse scene has brought to the world over the past few years from the initial UK deep house renaissance of the late 90's which directly lead to the new breed 'live house' sound to the cutting edge contemporary sounds of the Republic of Mancunia circa 2003 AD.

Featuring the glorious sounds of Mr Scruff, Brooks, Paper Music, Crazy P, Jersey St, Only Child, Wai Wan and Weekender. The Key players are all present and correct along with landmark labels such as Grand Central, Paper Recordings and Rainy City representing the established, while championing new breed acts such as Jersey St, Crazy P, Malena & Mettle Music who are also cutting it live.
