Recently, there was a story about a 60 plus year-old man named MIR YAAD ALI who was still trying to crack a government job exam. This is shocking and sad at the same time. It shows how deeply rooted the idea of government jobs is in the minds of people. Even at an age when most people have retired and are spending time with their grandchildren, he is still waking up early to study and attend coaching classes with youngsters.
This situation highlights two big problems. One is the lack of decent job opportunities in the private sector for many educated Indians. The other is the obsession with government jobs due to the social status attached to them. People feel that if they don’t get a government job, their life is incomplete or they have failed in some way.
At the age of 70, a person should ideally be enjoying a peaceful life, taking care of their health, and doing what makes them happy. Instead, this man is still stuck in an endless loop of preparation, rejection, and hope. It is a tragic reflection of how society measures success and how the system fails to support people in finding meaningful and timely employment.
