I don’t think Shadow should be in Movie 4, and hear me out, it wouldn’t be a bad thing. A Sonic CD adaptation doesn’t have much room for him, so why not leave him out for a movie? Let everyone assume he’s gone, maybe have Sonic reflect on him a little in Movie 4. That way, his sacrifice would have more lasting impact, unlike in the games where he came right back in Heroes. Skipping a movie would also build way more hype for his return, which should be in his own movie. Imagine the marketing—"Keanu Reeves returns as Shadow in his very own film!" It’d get fans excited and make his comeback feel more meaningful. Right now, there’s no real reason he needs to be in Movie 4, and forcing him in might cause more problems than it’s worth. Of course, execs might not go for it since Shadow is a big moneymaker.
