Join Living My Alaska for an unforgettable van life adventure as we travel Alaska's legendary and remote Denali Highway! Our journey was rewarded with a truly heart-stopping moment when a mother moose and her newborn calf walked right past our van, a wildlife encounter we'll never forget.
The Denali Highway isn't for the faint of heart, especially early in the season. We navigated challenging road conditions, potholes, and a classic Alaskan mix of driving rain and cold. Just as the weather started to get us down, we were gifted with one of the most incredible sights the Alaskan wilderness has to offer. While parked on the side of the road near Clearwater Creek, we spotted a mama moose with her brand new baby, likely only a week or two old.
Watching this mother moose and baby so closely was a powerful reminder of why we do this. We held our breath, trying not to make a sound, as she carefully guided her little one just feet from our vehicle. It’s moments like this that make all the difficult parts of a rugged Alaska road trip completely worth it. This is what Living My Alaska is all about: patience, perseverance, and being rewarded with authentic, wild experiences.
