Kerry recently visited American artist Pat Matthews, known worldwide for his heavy use of acrylic paints in his stylized outdoor sceneries and flag paintings, on a trip to Denver.

Pat’s original flag painting named American Pride was inspired by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On April of 2002, Matthews flew to New York City and presented the original painting with a check from a special fund to Engine 4, Ladder Company 54, Battalion 9, on 8th Avenue, in NYC. This act of kindness took Pat’s artistic career in another direction. Today, Pat’s flag paintings sell worldwide for $1000’s of dollars.
