
The Floorlords have played a significant role in the movement and growth of hip-hop culture for more than three decades, contributing wholeheartedly by helping to define and ultimately expand upon the art of b-boying/b-girling, more commonly known as breakdancing. The group has been instrumental in bringing the five elements of hip-hop culture to millions of fans and followers through television, films, and stage, as well as on the streets. Some well known on-screen appearances can be seen in the films “Krush Groove” and ”Southie” Step up 2&3” Battle Of The Year “The Way Way Back as well as television programs such as “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” and “The “’Donohue’ Show”. At the present time all of the original Floorlords members are still involved with the crew, and the newer Floorlords continue to perform and pass on their teachings all around the globe about b-boying and the hip-hop culture.
The Floorlords have won numerous local and international competitions, including “Out For Fame” US National Championship in 2006 and “Evolution 3” in 2007. The Floorlords perform in exhibitions in venues ranging from nightclubs to various other community events, all while educating their audiences through their self produced stage play “Floorlore’, The History of Hip Hop”. During the Floorlords 30th anniversary celebration, Mayor Menino officially proclaimed June 25th “Floorlords Day” in the city of Boston. The Floorlords have shared the stage with artist such as Madonna, P-Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, The Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Missy Eliot, Big Pun, Talib Kweli, Big Daddy Kane, Nice & Smooth, Maxwell, DJ Qbert, The Xecutioners, Kool Herc,KRS ONE, and many more.
