Yes, I actually liked the live-action Lilo & Stitch! I went in super nervous because let’s be real—most of Disney’s live-action remakes haven’t exactly been amazing. I was worried they’d just make Stitch cute and forget what made the original special. But thankfully, they didn’t. They kept “Ohana means family” front and center, and honestly, that saved it for me. I was surprised they included stuff like Stitch getting hit by a truck (done in a kid-friendly way), Jumba blowing up the house, and even Lilo fighting Mertle. I thought all of that would be cut. Yeah, Jumba’s voice felt off, but the original actor passed away, so I get it. And while it’s definitely different from the 2002 version, that’s actually why it worked. Instead of copying the original scene-for-scene, they gave it a fresh angle. I especially loved how they gave Nani more to dream about—college, her own life—and still showed her staying close to Lilo. It had heart. Not better than the original, but for a remake? Pretty solid.
