The Closed Die Forging process is one of the standard production processes for manufacturing eye bolts. It is extensively used in the field of forging and foundry because of its excellent performance and high efficiency. The Closed Die Forging process is mainly used to produce high-precision small diameter bars, shafts and various fittings in the automotive, chemical, air-conditioning and electrical industries.
Closed Die Forging is a forging process in which dies move towards each other and covers the workpiece in whole or in part. The heated raw material, which is approximately the shape or size of the final forged part, is placed in the bottom die. Closed Die Forging is a forging process for small and large parts, the closed die process closes the part into the die. A closed die is typically made of steel, and the dies are machined to very high tolerances. This type of forging process is best suited for parts that have flat sides or square cross sections. In some cases, a part can be forged using the same die designed for forging the part. Closed dies are often used for smaller parts, such as eye bolts.
In open die forging, the billet is placed between multiple dies that do not enclose the metal entirely. In Closed die forging process, is also referred to as impression die forging. It utilizes high pressure to compress the metal piece to fill an enclosed die impression for required shapes.
Drop forging, Process of shaping metal and increasing its strength. In most forging, an upper die is forced against a heated workpiece positioned on a stationary lower die. If the upper die or hammer is dropped, the process is known as drop forging.
