Today I'm launching a new video series all about analyzing what makes melodies sound beautiful, iconic, memorable or effective.
What kind of techniques, structures or note choices some of the best melodic writers have made to create your favorite melodies? That's what we'll try to uncover together in this new playlist!
For the very first one, I could have chosen a popular rock or pop song, but I instead decided to go with one of my personnal favorites: Octavarium by Dream Theater.
Dream Theater are known for their complicated time signatures, long epic songs and shred parts, but they also have some melodic gems in their music. The melody in Octavarium is one of the best ones!
With this single melody, you're going to learn many useful tips to improve your melodic writing. Let's get started!
