So we have the best Deputy Mayor that the H.D.C has had in..like...ever...yet nine certain councillors decided to put a resolution forward to remove him. Then after this is passed the Mayor (also finally we have a good one!) reinstates him as Deputy using a clause in the legislation that allows him to. Then the C.E.O decides that this does not stand and the new "deputy" who was voted in is now the official one. What a buggers muddle! All due to a clumsy piece of legislation that was hastily drafted due to whole Auckland "Super City" council being formed. There are still bugs in it, just like a sloppy piece of computer code, and it looks like the little Horowhenua district is going to be where this is put to the test.
Of course all of these political & legal games are merely a symptom of what is really going on here. Which is, to be blunt, factions of the previous regime failing to accept that we are now operating in a new paradigm. One of essentially anti-globalism / pro *true* democracy on a local level for want of a better explanation.
