Watch in HD!!!!! This is a drum cover of a song titled 'Purple Heart' by one of my favorite bands 'I Am Giant'. I was first exposed to them by a band mate back when I was on tour with Skyharbor in Europe a few years ago. All of their music is great, and I've wanted to do a drum cover of one of their tunes for some time now.
I had a lot of fun tracking this video. There's nothing complicated going on with the drum parts. Its more so just a very fun song to play to. I recorded this video a few months ago, which explains the setup with just one rack tom. Im still using two rack toms currently, and I don't plan on changing.
Here's what Im using in this video.
Tama Starclassic Birch Bubinga in Lacquered White Oyster
10" x 8" Rack Tom
14" x 14" Floor Tom (Left)
16" x 14" Floor Tom (right)
22" x 16" Kick Drum
14" x 6" Brass Starphonic Snare
Meinl Cymbals (from left to right):
- 13" Byzance Extra Dry Medium Hi Hats
- 18" Byzance Medium Crash
- 22" Byzance Symmetry Ride
- 18" Byzance Extra Dry Thin Crash
- 18" Byzance China and 16" Mb10 Medium Crash (stack)
- 18" Classics Custom Extreme Metal China
I'm using Vic Firth Metal's.
I use Remo Emperor Clear's on tom batter heads, Remo Ambassador Clear's on tom resonant heads, a Powerstroke 3 on the kick batter, a Coated Controlled Sound for the snare batter, and a Clear Emperor Hazy for the snare resonant.
Enjoy!
