First up, Teal Drones have beat out Skydio for the US Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance Program.
The Teal Black Widow was determined by the Army to be most capable and in line with their needs.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Black Widow, it’s a 3.6lb quadcopter with an EO/IR Payload capable of 4K30FPS, 640 thermal, 35 minute flight time, GPS denied operation, and optional secondary payloads.
It’s unclear at this time what the total award amount is, but the program requires Teal to deliver 5,880 systems over the next 5 years.
We’ll see how this shakes up the industry!

Next up, a military base in New Jersey experienced a fly over by several large drones this week.
This is similar to the events we talked about a few weeks ago except that this event seems to be a one-off.
It’s unclear what the aircraft are exactly, where they originated, and what their mission was.
Several videos have surfaced on X, but few show more than a few lights.
Meanwhile, it appears a NJ State Police Helicopter worked to track the drones.
We’ll keep you updated as we see more from this.

Last up, DJI O4 unit leaked!
The O4 air unit appears to come in two versions; a standard and a pro.
The standard version appears to have a single-piece camera unit while the pro has a larger cooling setup and multiple antennas.
Rumored upgrades include a 1/1.3” sensor, better cooling, 30ms latency, and potentially 1080p/100fps transmitted video.
