This place in the heart of Europe is a true geopolitical puzzle. This is Lake Constance, a beautiful lake nestled between Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You would think that after so many years, borders in Europe are well-defined, but you would be wrong. The main issue is that there's no official agreement on where the borders lie within the lake. If we ask the Austrians, they would say the lake is a shared territory of the three countries with no defined borders. This would make Lake Constance the second triple condominium in the world after Andorra. But if we ask Germany or Switzerland, they would say the border is in the middle of the lake, each country owning a part of it. Because of this ambiguity, if you commit any illegality on the lake, you have a big chance to be accused by two countries at the same time. Because Switzerland, Germany, and Austria can't decide on a border here, Lake Constance is one of the few territories in Europe that are not yet under the clear ownership of any single state.
