Speaking at the National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria, organized by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development (Centre LSD) in Abuja, Shettima emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty of African nations while supporting their return to democracy. Represented by his Special Adviser on Political Issues, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Vice President, reiterated Nigeria’s role as a beacon of democracy in the continent, advocating for solutions to address these challenges and strengthen democratic institutions.
