Earlier this month, on November 1st, it was announced that the Gorge Waterfalls 100k will serve as the Team USA qualifier for the 2025 Long Trail World Championship. The top two finishers in the men’s and women’s races will earn automatic spots on the long trail team representing the USA in Canfranc, Spain, next September. The remaining team members will be selected based on their race resumes.The announcement sparked a mix of support and criticism on social media, with fans and professional athletes largely questioning whether Gorge’s course adequately prepares runners for the challenges of Canfranc’s terrain.
