SOHCAHTOA - Finding Missing Sides PART 1 | Trigonometry | Maths | FuseSchool
In this video we will discover how to find the missing side of a right angle triangle using SOHCAHTOA.
You should already know which side is the opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse. Sin, cos and tan are ratios between the lengths of sides and angles in right-angle triangles.
SOHCAHTOA helps us remember which function (sin, cos or tan) to use for which combination of sides (opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse).
SOH stands for sin(angle) = opposite / hypotenuse.
CAH stands for cos(angle) = adajcent / hypotenuse.
TOA stands for tan(angle) = opposite / adjacent.
We then just plug the lengths of sides and angles into these equations.
