We've been visiting lots of little towns as we travel around Northern Patagonia and El Hoyo was our next stop! We only had a couple of days here but we had quite a bit of fun picnicking at a local vineyard, hiking up to a hidden waterfall, and enjoying a morning stroll on the shores of Lake Epuyen.

We’re the only hikers on a hidden trail outside El Bolsón, surrounded by rugged peaks, lush forest and thundering waterfalls. Then, we settle in for a vineyard picnic at Patagonian Wines—each of us with our own “potion” (three mini-bottles!) of velvety Merlot, Pinot Noir & local blends. 🥂

🍴 Feast on artisan cheese (aged cheddar, blue cheese), smoked trout, wild-boar salami, olives & nuts while taking in those mountain views.
🥾 Saved our legs with a remiss ride up steep switchbacks—and got the perfect workout on the hike down.
⛅️ Weather alert: torrential rain cleared in minutes to reveal blue skies—classic Patagonian mood swings!
