I have been looking for a great portable interview solution for both audio and video for a few years now. In the past, I've used my old iPhones for impromptu audio interviews (the built-in mic is good enough for Podcasts, and usually good enough for broadcast audio).
However, the main problem I've had with video interviews on my iPhone has been the quality of the microphone/audio. In this video, I demonstrate the use of a lavaliere microphone while recording a video with my iPhone 4's front-facing camera.
