Hello everything! Here we go again with 14 killer sydes from the female side of the sixties! And they sure know how to kick the garage rock music off!
Let’s dig out what we can find about these ones!
A1- Gypsy Moss was a band from El Monte, California. There is not much known about them but this 4 min exercise is a killer! They issued two singles, this is the second one. The flip side is titled “No More To Give”.
- No Label - ASR-118 (date unknown)
A2- The Teen Bugs is an early incarnation of the band The Girls that recorded Chico’s Girl. This is one of the many bands of the Sandoval sisters (their career started in the late 1950s!). I made an anthology of their tracks here:
- Blue River Records 804 (1964)
A3- The New Chains III was a Florida band that issued only one single. “The End”, the flip side, is better known and is nice too.
- Enterprise Records – 5242 (1967)
A4- Charlene Condray And The Bitter End is one of the bands featuring Charlene Condray, singer and keyboardist from Texas. She started to record back in 1958 and married Tommy Hancock, who signs the flip side of this track. The full story here:
- Sandyland - 1005 (1970)
A5- The Limey’s With The London Sounds were from Miami, FL, starring Andrea and Stephen Gennard. The other side, “Come Back”, was compiled on Psychedelic States.
- Sherwood Records – 1715 (1966)
A6 & A7- Kathy Gianncursio was from Rochester, New York. She cut this acetate at Fine Recording Studio. She was the daughter of Vincent Gianncursio, founder and owner of the Fine Recording studio until his death in 1977.
- Fine Recording Studio – acetate (date unknown)
B1- Judy Franklin And The Hippies is a mystery band from Chicago, IL, that issued one single Cha-Cha in 1967.
- Cha-Cha Records – C-768 (1967)
B2- Little Peppy With The Bare Existence is another mystery band from Chicago, IL that issued one single on Fine Records, label related to Fine Recording Studio. Little Peppy is Marlene Torre, who wrote both sides.
- Fine Records – FI-9M25663/FI-9M25664 (1966)
B3- The Trees was a band from Kentucky that issued one single on a label from Lebanon Junction. The band included Ray Farmer on drums, lead guitar and bass, and Beverly Stykes on vocals. The songs were written and arranged by Larry Ford.

B4- This track comes from a Dick Charles acetate, recorded in New York.

B7- We’ve already met Ill Wind in the Vol. 8 of this series. This comes from a live performance recorded around 1972. This is a cover of the classic folk song “Morning Dew”.
