Here’s some jazz hip hop beat making with an Asian type beat shakuhachi flute sound. This is me making hip hop with no samples and making a beat from scratch. I essentially started off with a midi piano and utilised logic’s chord trigger (because I was feeling lazy lol), to create a chord progression based on the same minor chord with chord extensions across the full progression. This made it easier and quicker coming up with a progression as I’m not particularly skilled on the piano playing in real time. You’ll also notice later on I create some atmospheric flute sounds with plenty of reverb and delay to make the sound much deeper. You’ll also see me use some sound design techniques in order to create more movement within the already existing shakuhachi flute sound so that it more accurately replicates the sound similar to the classic E-Mu emulator 2 synth flute patch. I do this by creating a vibrato effect using an LFO to modulate the pitch slightly on the logic x sampler. I then use automation with pitch bend and filter cutoff to affect the sound. Once I did the I then modulated the pitch further using ‘flex pitch’ in logic, then resampled that that into Alchemy sampler synth….
