The Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain, is one of the most famous churches in the world—and it's still not finished. Construction began in 1882, which means it has been under construction for over 140 years. Despite its long history, the building is still a work in progress.

This massive basilica was designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, who took over the project in 1883. He dedicated the last years of his life to it, but sadly, he died in 1926 before seeing it completed. Since then, many architects have continued his work, trying to stay true to his unique vision.

The church is known for its tall towers, detailed carvings, and creative design. It combines Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, making it stand out from any other church in the world. Tourists visit from around the globe just to see how it’s coming along.

One reason it's taken so long is that much of the funding comes from donations and ticket sales. Also, Gaudí’s design is very complex, with shapes and details that are difficult to build. Even with modern technology, it's a huge challenge.

Today, builders hope to finish the Sagrada Família in the coming years—but for now, it remains a masterpiece still in progress.
