The all-new 2020 Ford Explorer is roughly the same size as the outgoing model but major changes to the architecture and design make it a much better product. Ford is using a shred platform with the Lincoln Aviator SUV, with a rear-wheel bias AWD system for car-like performance and a dynamic drive. Powering the base Ford Explorer is a 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder, there is a 3.3L hybrid system or the top 3.0L twin-turbo V6 featured in the Platinum model or ST. The Ford Explorer ST is the performance model in the lineup, getting 400hp and over 400lb.-ft. of torque with a rear-wheel bias AWD system. The transmission is a 10-speed unit and the Explorer runs on a performance tuned suspension. This is a much more dynamic feeling vehicle compared to the Edge ST, thanks to a quicker transmission and rear-bias system. The interior of this 3-row 7-passenger SUV can be equipped with a 10.1-inch tablet-style SYNC system that looks rather like an afterthought.
