After years of research and collaboration with Egyptologists, composer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Zann (and founder of NEMUER) created a dark, immersive work that brings to life spells from the Papyrus of Nu, Nebseni, and Neferwebenef Turi.

Alongside historical instruments such as the African harp, Egyptian ney, oud, and sistrum, the album introduces a groundbreaking element: vocals in Ancient Egyptian, reconstructed under the guidance of Dr. Christian de Vartavan, offering an unprecedented glimpse into the sound of this long-lost language.

Zann traveled throughout Egypt to collect authentic instruments and inspiration firsthand, incorporating even a preserved pharaonic melody passed on by Coptic descendants.
